I don't know why I'm writing this letter, but I know that after all the shivers and emotions I felt today I just had to. It's a silly thing to do but I am nothing less than a silly, old hen.
Everybody is saying that the States are going to change the world now that you will be leading them. I'm not sure this will really happen but I'm sure that you certainly can try.
I'm not going to talk about economy, recession, wars and stock market, you'll have to deal with a lot of people talking of these issues in the months to come. I just have to tell you something that really lies at my heart as a mother. Well, I am forty-three and I am a mother, you are forty-six and you are a father, so I believe that after all we have a little something in common: the future of our kids.
I would like a bright future for them, in a peaceful, cleaner world. I'm sure you would like the same and I hope you will really try for that and I thank you for this.
I don't think that there will ever be a chance that you will really read this message but now that I've written it I feel better, definitely better. After all, I'm just a silly, italian, old hen.
